How?Now, LandRovers are really very like big boy's Meccano so swapping over boddies shouldn't be too difficult....should it?Looking at various parts manuals (one of which can be found at the top of LRO magazines Series III forum) backs up the idea that it should be do-able. I asked about on the forum and was contacted by Oobyscoo - which is his real name.

White Van ManUnfortunately for Oobyscoo (who goes by the made up alias of Darren) circumstances had forced him to sell up his LandRovers and would I like to make him an offer on the whole conversion kit?So we settled on a price and I hired a van and went off down to Birmingham. I came back with the following: tub; sides with windows; twin skinned safari roof; two rear, side doors; bar to support front row seats; rear seats; floors; sills; spare wheels; kitchen sink. I also came home with a full set of spare wheels and all of the new chassis brackets that I'll neeed which oobyscoo had very kindly had made up for me.

The next day, we went en-mass to what I am now calling my grotto (it is so full of delights) and unpacked it all again.
Here you can see my assistants, Mr Mutt and Mr Geoff, taking a break - I'm not prepared to say well earned.
If you are thinking of doing this conversion, please get more people to help move the big stuff than I did. They may be aluminium alloy, but some of these bits are heavy. |

But, finally, it was all in place and tucked up for the night. We thought we should give the new vehicle a go before we went though.
A bit more work to do yet, I think! I must admit to feeling rather intimidated by what I have taken on here. There's a terrible lot of stuff to swap over. |
